Saudade will be playing the patio at Savoy Bar & Grill this coming Wednesday evening,  August 29, 2012,  from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Come and relax with some great food and great music.

This Friday, August 24th, Saudade is excited to play the Tamarind Institute’s closing party for the exhibit  Afro: Black Identity in America and Brazil.

The party goes from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and is open to the public. A special invite goes out to all of our Brazilan friends.

Come on out, meet the artists, dance to the Brazilian sounds of Saudade and enjoy the libations.

This Friday night, September 16th, Dan Downling on guitar , guest John Griffin on bass and myself, Bob Gusch on clarinet and woodwinds will be playing some jazz, swing, blues and more starting at 7:30 PM and going to 10:30 PM. Come on down and cut the rug with Bobcats.

I have a love/hate relationship with my tenor sax. It’s a King Super 20 from the early seventies. A decent enough horn but I am never happy with the tonal response I get. I am not one to go from horn to horn or mouthpiece to mouthpiece like some like to do. So I lend my horn to a visiting artist who is sitting in with my band, Saudade and he is sounding real fine. Then I realized, hey, that’s my horn. It doesn’t sound that way when I play it. I then asked  “the question”. What mouthpiece do you play on”? He tells me and now on am experiencing my tenor revival. Trying some new mouthpieces that really make the horn respond in a positivee way. I’ll let you know how it all comes out.

This may sound fishy, but Trio Saudade will be at Osaka Bar, Grill and Sushi Friday, July 16, 2010 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. We will be playing for scale.
